Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging
EV - Electric Vehicle Charging Point Design & Installation Service.
In 2012/2013 almost every leading car manufacturer launched at least one plug in electric vehicle (EV) to both private and commercial sectors.
Vehicle manufactures have been working to increase the range of EV whilst decreasing the recharge time. To achieve this they have been working with the electrical industry by developing dedicated EV charging equipment including socket-outlets, plugs and vehicle connectors single or 3 phase solutions.
As a result of the above, the nature of these works can vary dependant on customer requirements, however Paul Boyd Electrical Installation Services is trained to provide consultancy, design and installation services to ensure the most suitable solution is delivered for Electric Vehicle Charging points. All works are completed to BS7671 IEE Wiring Regulations and IET Code of Practice for EV equipment installation.
The design includes considerations such as:
Adequacy of existing electrical installation, including capacity (maximum demand), earthing and bonding
Suitability of Location of Vehicle charging equipment
Charging requirements in line with the EV industry for
Mode 1 - 13amp Supply (10 to 12 Hours Charge)
Mode 2 - 16amp Supply (6 to 8 Hours Charge)
Mode 3 - 32amp Supply (3 to 4 Hours Charge)
Mode 4 - DC Supply (80% Charge in 30 mins)
